Pair charged after shooting at Massey residence with fake gun

Wikwemikong duo also had cocaine and opioids in vehicle

Two people have been charged with weapon and drug-related offences after a replica firearm was discharged in Massey.

Manitoulin OPP said members responded Monday around 10 a.m. to a report of a gun being fired from a vehicle toward a residence on Montreal Street. No injuries were reported.

“Police located the motor vehicle and arrested two occupants,” the OPP said. “A search of the vehicle located an air pistol handgun, cellphones, drug paraphernalia and drugs suspected to be cocaine and opioids.”

The driver and passenger, both from Wikwemikong First Nation, were arrested and charged.

Lawrence Toulouse, 37, and Sandra Sorbley, 48, are each charged with possessing hard drugs for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose, assault with a weapon, discharging a firearm with intent, and use of an imitation firearm while committing an offence.

Toulouse was additionally charged with failing to comply with a probation order.

Both Sorbley and Toulouse were held for bail court and are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Sudbury on May 1 and May 9, respectively.
